Newly Elected president, Donald Trump and allied Congress members have blamed the deadly New Orleans truck attack, that killed 14 people and injured 30 citizens, on Joe Biden's border policies even though the attacker was a citizen. In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true”. Officials declared that the attacker was Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a US citizen and Army Veteran. Fox News reported on Wednesday morning that the New Orleans terrorist attacker had recently crossed the border through Eagle Pass 2 days prior. In Trump's Truth Social post, he questions Biden's administration's handling of the nation's border, he says their way of handling it was, "a violent erosion of Safety, National Security, and Democracy." Trump argued and continues to argue that Biden's Open Border Policies would lead to terrorism and violent crime in America. Reported in NBC News Earlier this year that “about 0.014% of migrants who had tried to cross the border in fiscal year 2024, or fewer than 2 out of every 10,000, were on the terrorist watchlist. The total number who have tried to cross during the Biden administration is just over 1,700. During the Trump presidency, it was 1,400”.  As seen in the statistics there is a similar number of border crossing attempts in both presidencies. Due to the recent attack leading to the deaths of many citizens, Trump is seizing this opportunity and pinning it against Biden's whole administration and using past statements to prove a previous point he made. This political strategy is beneficial for his administration as it is diverting the blame to Biden's specific border regulations although the statistics between him and Biden show similar results.
